My journey with AI
I was introduced to AI through my work, and initially, I used ChatGPT extensively for everything from debugging to implementing features. Over time, I started feeling too dependent on AI, which led to self-doubt. I began to wonder what this reliance would mean for my career. Despite these concerns, I continued using AI regularly.
Recently, I was introduced to Cursor. At first, while exploring it, I questioned myself: "Am I here to code, or just copy-paste solutions from AI?" Gradually, I realized that my mindset was affecting me more than the tool itself. So, I took a step back to understand what AI was really doing for me. This cleared up some of my doubts.
I came to see AI as a tool that helps me communicate with my system—much like how a mobile phone helps us communicate with people. One of the key advantages of Cursor is that it solves a problem many developers face. Previously, I used VS Code for development, but whenever I got stuck, I had to switch to a browser, consult ChatGPT, and then return to the editor to implement the solution. Cursor eliminates that tab-shifting problem by integrating AI directly into the development environment.
Another important feature Cursor offers is the availability of multiple AI models. One big advantage is that it can read my code, which significantly enhances its ability to assist. Ultimately, I’ve realized that with AI, the way we communicate with our systems has changed, and tools like Cursor are helping me adapt to that evolution.
